CZECHOSLOVAKIAN VLCAK SOCIETY OF AMERICA
What is Bonitation?
Bonitation assesses the temperament and the detailed physical measurements and values of the dog or bitch. The minimum age for dogs participating is 18 months for females and 24 months for males. Any dogs younger must participate in the Youth Presentation. In order to receive breeding rights in Czech Republic or Slovakia, the dog must be judged in a three-person panel while also receiving a passing grade.
What is the Youth Presentation?
Younger dogs that are 3 months and older may participate in the optional youth presentation. The youth presentation is not a substitute for breeding requirements. The young dogs are evaluated on structure, appearance and movement. Once the dog has completed the youth presentation, the handler is handed a card listing everything that the dog was evaluated on.
Skúšku vytrvalosti psa (SVP)
Aside from bonitation, dogs must successfully complete an endurance exam to gain breeding rights. The purpose of SVP is to demonstrate efficient movement and hardiness of the dog. There are three degrees of both distance and time in each exam. Dogs must accompany their handlers on a bicycle for 25 miles (40km), 43 miles (70km) or 62 miles (100km) for SVP1, SVP2 and SVP3.
There are currently no events for bonitation or SVP. Please check back later as we work towards offering these here in the US!
