Why the Czechoslovakian Vlcak Society of America?
From the Latin societas, or socius, meaning companion; Society originally meant companionship, or a friendly association with others. Now, the common definition is an organization or club formed for a particular purpose or activity, or community of people having shared rules and customs.
The Czechoslovakian Vlcak Society of America (CSVSA) believes in the benefit of strong community when it comes to the wellbeing and welfare of a dog breed, and wishes to further the breed in the USA by building those strong foundations and connections and companionships between owners, breeders, and fanciers alike. The CSVSA puts emphasis on four main tenets:
• Ethics – to breed to a high standard and not compromise those standards for convenience, profit, or preferential treatment; and to always put the breed’s needs above personal acclaim or gain.
• Respect – to foster an environment where all members feel safe, welcomed, and free to participate in all society sponsored events and activities.
• Support – to support owners, breeders, and fanciers in their pursuits and interests, as well as purebred Czechoslovakian Vlcak who find themselves in need of rehoming or rescue.
• Transparency – The board of directors of the CSVSA are here to be stewards of the breed and community, not the autocrats there of. All decisions and meetings will have the input of the community, and all meetings and processes will be posted publicly; either through video, meeting minutes, or through the quarterly newsletter, without fail.
The CSVSA holds a zero tolerance position for any kind of discrimination based on race, color, religion or creed, sex (including gender, pregnancy, sexual orientation, and gender identity), age, disability, genetic information, veteran status or citizenship. Anyone found guilty of discriminating against another member for these reasons through formal complaint will have their membership revoked or denied, as these behaviors and beliefs have no place in American society, nor within the CSVSA.
When was the CSVSA established?
Due to a previous attempt at a breed club failing to meet the tenets listed above, the CSVSA was established by vote on 10 November 2022 to provide the CSV community with a breed club they could be proud of, and would advance the Czechoslovakian Vlcak in an ethical, inclusive, and transparent manner.
